Kenya Suspends Further Release Of Election Results
Kenyan electoral body,
Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission (EBC) has suspended the
release of election results from yesterday's general elections. The
commission made the decision following the protest by the opposition
party National Super Alliance (NASA).
However, the commission rejected the accusation that the election on
Tuesday was a fraud. The chairman of IEBC, Wafula Chebukati denied any
knowledge that their system was hacked. He called on opposition agents
to come to their tallying center and see scanned 34A and 34B forms
confirming the results the commission was releasing."Chairman Wafula Chebukati has called for the originals of form 34A from across the country to be forwarded to the commission," says a terse statement.
The electoral commission is making the whole 28, 000 forms so far received by the commission available to party agents and later to the people of Kenya via their online portal.
The move appears to have calmed nerves in Kenya. If the results on form 34 A matches the results so far released, there is hope that Kenya can pull back from the precipice.
